2022 Reflections and Looking Forward to 2023!

2022 has again seen Social Sense working on a variety of programmes that are tackling the most important social issues affecting individuals, families and communities in Britain today. Here Gary our Managing Director gives an overview of the year.

Healhub
In the early part of the year we concluded our insights and evaluation work for Healhub, a forward thinking Mental Health service provided by Aspire4U. Commissioned by West Midlands Police, we thoroughly enjoyed engaging young people and speaking with partners to dig deeper into how the project works, informing routes for sustainability.

HeadStart Kent

In the Spring we concluded our 5 Year Mindfulness Project in partnership with Breathworks, delivering training to 1500 teachers and affecting the lives of many more young people. It was such a pleasure to lead on this contract and contribute to the wider HeadStart Programme.

AVision
We also had the pleasure of supporting AVision with their work in empowering young people to fulfil their ambitions. Driven by their inspirational leader Avril Grant, this is another great programme to keep an eye on!

ABL
Another highlight this year was working with ABL to support their integrated wellbeing service in Nottinghamshire. This project spanned a few months, starting with Primary and Secondary research, engaging key partners and formulating messages and campaigns that could drive forward more referrals and changes in behaviour.

Blackburn with Darwen
Following the success of the GetHangry Food Poverty campaign, we were thrilled that Blackburn and Darwen Council returned to us to work with their Young People to develop a campaign delivering important messages on Road Safety.

Moving on Project
During COVID we started to buy and source properties to support victims of domestic abuse, trapped in a system where there’s simply no accommodation to move to. I have been heartened by some of the life changing stories coming out of this and only this week I personally met with a tenant who spoke of the difference we’d made to her life.

Greater Moments
2022 has been something of a development year for this project, listening and acting on feedback/suggestions that came out of our early pilots. While we may not have been too visible, for the last 10 months we’ve been working intensively with our Technical team and other partners to prepare the app for widescale roll out. Modifications include many new features for carers, plus a revamp of our moments section. We are currently preparing to showcase hundreds of new activities that continue to build connection, support independence, improve wellbeing and reduce much needed pressure on our health service.

Looking forward

We look forward to 2023 with complete clarity of how we want to scale both our impacts within Social Sense and Greater Moments, which is now our leading in-house product.

In August 2022 we formed Greater Moments Ltd and it’s our intention to build a dedicated team that can support and drive forward the app and programme. We have already received some seed investment and now we’re looking to grow alongside others in this space.

In January look out for our updated app release and the launch of our brand-new Greater Moments website, we can’t wait to find out what you think.

At Social Sense we’ll continue to innovate and support socially led organisations to achieve their own social impacts. Once again, our extensive lived experience in project development and delivery sets us apart when it comes to supporting others looking to do the same.

There’s a lot to look forward to and thanks once again for your support this year.

Have a wonderful Christmas break and see you all again soon!

Gary
